Honda S2000

The Honda S2000 is a roadster that was manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda between 1999 and 2009. First shown as a concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, the production version was launched in April 1999 to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The S2000 is named for its engine displacement of 2 liters, carrying on in the tradition of the S500, S600, and S800 roadsters of the 1960s. Several revisions were made throughout the car's lifetime, including changes to the engine, gearbox, suspension, and interior and exterior. Production of the S2000 ceased in June 2009.

Honda S2000 FAQ's

How do I check the brake fluid level in my Honda S2000?

To check the brake fluid level in the Honda S2000, locate the brake fluid reservoir under the hood. The reservoir is typically transparent with minimum and maximum markings. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface, remove the cap, and visually inspect the fluid level. If the level is below the minimum marking, add the recommended brake fluid to bring it to the proper level.

How do I check the transmission fluid in my Honda S2000?

To check the transmission fluid in the Honda S2000, ensure the engine is warmed up and the vehicle is on a level surface. Locate the transmission dipstick, usually near the rear of the engine bay, and remove it. Wipe the dipstick clean, reinsert it fully, and then remove it again to check the fluid level. The fluid should be within the recommended range indicated on the dipstick.

How do I jump-start my Honda S2000?

To jump-start the Honda S2000, ensure both vehicles are turned off and the jumper cables are in good condition. Connect the positive (red) cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery, then connect the other end to the positive terminal of the donor vehicle's battery. Connect the negative (black) cable to the negative terminal of the donor vehicle's battery, then attach the other end to a metal surface on the engine block of the Honda S2000, away from the battery. Start the donor vehicle, let it run for a few minutes, then attempt to start the Honda S2000. Once started, remove the jumper cables in the reverse order of connection.

How do I reset the maintenance light in my Honda S2000?

To reset the maintenance light in the Honda S2000, turn the ignition switch to the ON position without starting the engine. Press and hold the trip/reset button on the instrument panel until the maintenance light begins to flash, then release the button. Turn the ignition off and then back on to confirm the light has been reset.

How often should I change the air filter in my Honda S2000?

The air filter in the Honda S2000 should be replaced every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or as indicated by the maintenance schedule. However, if you drive in dusty or dirty environments, it may be necessary to replace it more frequently. A clean air filter ensures proper airflow to the engine, improving fuel efficiency and preventing damage to internal components.

How often should I change the cabin air filter in my Honda S2000?

The cabin air filter in the Honda S2000 should be replaced every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or as indicated by the maintenance schedule. A clean cabin air filter ensures proper airflow into the vehicle's interior, improving air quality for the occupants and preventing dust and pollen buildup.

How often should I flush the coolant in my Honda S2000?

The coolant in the Honda S2000 should be flushed and replaced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles or as indicated by the maintenance schedule. Coolant deteriorates over time, losing its effectiveness in preventing engine overheating and corrosion. Regular coolant flushes ensure optimal engine cooling and prolong the lifespan of cooling system components.

How often should I replace the fuel filter in my Honda S2000?

The fuel filter in the Honda S2000 should be replaced every 60,000 to 90,000 miles or as indicated by the maintenance schedule. A clogged or dirty fuel filter can restrict fuel flow, leading to poor engine performance and potential fuel system damage. Regular fuel filter replacements ensure proper fuel delivery and protect the engine from harmful contaminants.

How often should I replace the spark plugs in my Honda S2000?

The spark plugs in the Honda S2000 should be replaced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, depending on driving conditions and the type of spark plugs installed. High-performance or iridium spark plugs may have a longer lifespan compared to standard ones. Regularly inspect the spark plugs and consult the owner's manual for specific replacement intervals.

How often should I replace the timing belt in my Honda S2000?

The timing belt in the Honda S2000 should be replaced every 60,000 to 100,000 miles or as indicated by the maintenance schedule. A worn or damaged timing belt can cause engine misfires, loss of power, or even severe engine damage if it fails. Regular timing belt replacements are crucial for maintaining engine reliability and preventing costly repairs.

What is the recommended brake fluid for my Honda S2000?

The recommended brake fluid for the Honda S2000 is DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. Both types of brake fluid have a high boiling point and are compatible with the vehicle's braking system. It is important to use fresh, uncontaminated brake fluid to maintain proper brake performance and prevent brake system damage.

What is the recommended engine coolant for my Honda S2000?

The recommended engine coolant for the Honda S2000 is a mixture of ethylene glycol antifreeze and distilled water in a 50:50 ratio. This coolant mixture provides effective heat transfer and freeze protection for the engine. Avoid using plain water or premixed coolants that may not meet the required specifications.

What is the recommended tire pressure for my Honda S2000?

The recommended tire pressure for the Honda S2000 is typically 32 PSI for the front tires and 29 PSI for the rear tires. However, it is important to refer to the specific tire pressure guidelines mentioned on the driver's side door jamb or in the owner's manual. Maintaining proper tire pressure improves handling, fuel efficiency, and extends tire life.

What type of oil should I use in my Honda S2000?

It is recommended to use 5W-30 synthetic oil in the Honda S2000 for optimal performance and engine protection. Synthetic oil provides better lubrication and heat resistance compared to conventional oil. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific oil recommendations and ensure regular oil changes to maintain engine health.

What type of power steering fluid should I use in my Honda S2000?

The recommended power steering fluid for the Honda S2000 is Honda Power Steering Fluid or an equivalent fluid that meets Honda specifications.
